About

Hi there! I'm Alice, and welcome to Slowly Mending Me, a blog intended to chart the ups and downs of my hopeful recovery from the life changing illness that is M.E.

I've long deliberated over starting a blog about my life with M.E, but well, life with M.E simply got in the way. Now that my last days of uni have come and gone, and I'm officially on a doctor prescribed year out, I figured there's no better time than the present. So here it is... Slowly Mending ME... my (admittedly rather optimistic!) journey from full-time ill person to fully functioning adult.

This time last year I'd have never even dreamed of the possibility of writing a blog about recovery. With my M.E at it's most severe and most of my days spent lying in bed with a fan directed at my poor heat sensitive and aching body, my mother and I sought help from a highly recommended M.E specialist. From this point onwards my life began to slowly turn around.
While I'm still very much ill, I'm lucky enough to have reached a point where the possibility of recovery doesn't seem like such a far off distant dream. Having suffered M.E for the past seven years, I'm not expecting a fast recovery. I know it may take years for the good days to be great days and for the bad days to just be down to the flu or a bad cold, but I'm hopeful I'll get there eventually.
And in the meantime? I'm gonna enjoy my recovery- each little step. While friends are off finding their way in the big scary world of work, you'll find me here, just taking some well deserved time out at home in the brilliant company of my supportive family, boyfriend, and two very lovable dogs.

As this blog will follow my life as I journey through recovery, expect posts on more or less everything- from illness to lifestyle, food and yoga. There is however bound to be quite a few on baking... It's kinda my thing :)

So once again, welcome to Slowly Mending Me, and thank-you for joining me on what's bound to be a rather long and bumpy journey!
